The Agape, or “Christian love feast,” is a fellowship meal and worship service. Agape is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love. The Agape Meal reminds us of the many meals Jesus had with his disciples. The ancient tradition of having an Agape Meal has been celebrated at First Pres Maumee for many years.
Join us on Ash Wednesday, February 26, at 5:30 pm in our Fellowship Hall for this year's Agape Meal. Bring a finger-food dish, which the Deacons will serve to everyone. Any finger foods, such as appetizers, hors d'ouevres, sandwiches, cheese, crackers, fruits, vegetables, dips, chicken wings, cookies, etc. will do (utensils are not used). If you prepare an item that is gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan, please attach a label to identify your dish as such.
We will light a candle at each table, say grace, sing, wash hands, and eat.
We will also taste God's grace through the Sacrament of Communion before transitioning to the Chapel at 7:00 pm for our Ash Wednesday Service, where we'll continue our worship of God this Lenten season through song, Scripture, and the imposition of ashes.
