Unstoppable God: The Presence that Defines the Kingdom
The One Thing That Might Stop God
Many of those who made up the early church were very poor. This didn’t stop God’s kingdom from expanding. As God’s presence dwelt among the people, generosity overcame any sense of fear or greed. This is seen in the gift collected for the Jerusalem. This principle is negatively emphasized in the account of Ananias and Sapphira. How is God continuing to nurture generosity and selflessness in our current crises?
In the beginning, the Church wasn’t even called the Church. Those who had devoted their life to Jesus became known as followers of “the way.” The book of Acts reveals how the presence of God in the person of the Holy Spirit led this group to redefine “the way” to worship God, as his kingdom is revealed through pretty extraordinary circumstances.
